Learn the State of Lake County at "Bagels, Politics & Biz"
The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce will hold the discussion Monday, March 18.
The Barrington Area Chamber of Commerce (BACC) will present “The State of Lake County” Monday, March 18 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at The Garlands of Barrington Performing Arts Centre, 1000 Garlands Lane in Barrington. The event is the first in the Chamber's 2013 “Bagels, Politics & Biz” Breakfast discussion series.
Scheduled speakers are Lake County Board members Nick Sauer (Dist. 17) and Craig Taylor (Dist. 19); and Michael Stevens, President/CEO of Lake County Partners.
Sauer and Taylor will address such topics as the county budget, transportation issues, Lake County PASSAGE, taxes, the county's strategic plan and volunteer opportunities in the region.
Lake County Partners President/CEO Stevens will provide an update on recent Lake County Partners' activities; share an overview of its recently completed Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy; and present what he terms a “value proposition that must be offered by Lake County for business attraction. Lake County Partners focuses on attracting, retaining and expanding businesses; advocating for infrastructure improvements; and spearheading initiatives that bolster business success.
Event guests will be among the area's first businesses and residents to hear the 2013 vision for Lake County. BACC President Janet Meyer notes that, “What participants learn just may change their business direction as they navigate the current business environment.”
