Bruce Olson, owner of the UPS store in Lake Zurich, was thanked for years of shipping cards and packages to veterans at no cost, when Olson and employees received a surprise visit from Sunshine Roth, national event coordinator for Stand & Salute American Heroes.

Roth said she approached Olson, several years ago asking that his store donate  shipping during the National Salute to Hospitalized Veterans, during which UPS stores across the country were going to donate free shipping for cards to veterans. He donated the shipping for that event and then continued to do so.

"Every single person in this store is so helpful; they go out of their way to help." Roth said. 

Stand and Salute is part of Our Heroes Journey which honors veterans of all wars -- those who are deployed as well as those who were combat wounded or who are in nursing homes.
