Lake Zurich Police Arrest Residents for Car Burglaries
Two residents, 17 and 18, were charged with felonies for car burglaries that occurred in Countryside West subdivision in the overnight hours, June 29.
Andrew A. Dalton, 17, of 118 West Harbor Dr., Lake Zurich, and Steven Medina, 18, of 490 Trailside Dr., Lake Zurich were arrested on July 13 and July 14, in connection with five car burglaries that occurred on June 29.
Dalton and Medina were each charged with five felony counts for burglary, according to Commander Kevin Finlon, of the Lake Zurich Police Department.
Items taken included GPS units, an iPod, miscellaneous cables for electronics and cigarettes. All burglaries occurred in the Countryside West subdivision, which is west of Rte. 12 and south of Cuba Road.
Finlon said the suspects were seen in the area on the night of the occurrences. They were taken into custody at that time and released pending further investigation.
“They were taken into custody that evening, but we didn’t have all the information we needed to get the charges,” Finlon said. He said all of the items have been recovered.
Bond for Dalton was set at $40,000. Bond for Medina was set at $30,000. The Lake Zurich Police Department did not have information as to whether they posted the 10 percent required. The Lake County States Attorney has not yet responded to a Lake Zurich Patch inquiry.
