Lake Zurich Firefighters Respond to Industrial Fire Started by Laser Printer
No injuries at business on Oakwood Drive.
A laser printer started a fire at an industrial center on Oakwood Drive, Thursday at about 3:35 p.m. Most of the fire was contained due to a sprinkler system and firefighters were able to extinguish the fire within 15 minutes, said Captain Terry Johnston of the Lake Zurich Fire Rescue
The owner of the business left temporarily and returned to find a laser printer on fire.
Johnston said there were no injuries to employees or firefighters. He said initially the call was for a fire alarm, but was upgraded when it was discovered there was a fire. All Lake Zurich units, as well as Barrington, Wauconda and Long Grove responded.
The fire was contained to the area by the machine, however there was smoke damage to the offices.
The business is located in a separate area of a larger industrial complex. Johnston said the industrial office building was evacuated.
