Get Out: Farm Country Fair; Farmers Market

1. Lake Zurich Heritage Farmers Market

Where/when: Lions Park; 3 to 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 30.

Why go? Shop for locally grown fresh fruits and vegetables along with handmade items. The market will be held rain or shine.

Pricing: Free admission.

2. Ansel Adams National Touring Exhibit

Where/when: Lake County Discovery Museum; 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, Sept. 30 and Oct. 1.

Why go? See the 70 rare, hand-printed photos by Ansel Adams on display in the museum. These images, of the Sierra Nevada and New Mexico, are considered to be the best of Adams' work.

Pricing: Free for museum members and with museum admission, which is $6 for adults; $3 for seniors and students; $2.50 for youth ages 4 to 17 years; free for children 3 years and younger.

3. Bonner Heritage Farm Country Fair

Where/when: Bonner Heritage Farm, on Country Place just north of Sand Lake Road in Lindenhurst; noon to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.

Why go? Spend the day at this old-fashioned country fair. There will be live entertainment, wagon rides, games, a petting zoo, crafts and more. Pack a picnic and enjoy this fun-filled day for the whole family.

Pricing: $3 per person, 3 and younger get in free.

4. The Story of Ferdinand

Where/when: Ela Area Public Library, 1 to 1:45 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.

Why go? Experience a musical version of the classic story by Munro Leaf performed by a guitar ensemble from Knight Music Academy.

Pricing: Free.

5. Arts & Crafts Show

Where/when: Lake County Fair Association, 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 1, and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2.

Why go? Shop for unique and original handmade items at this arts and crafts show presented by Step by Step Promotions.

Pricing: $3 admission fee.
