The Lake County Planning, Building and Zoning Department sent a notice announcing the continuance of the public hearing regarding rezoning of the Dimucci property at Rte. 12 and Old McHenry Road, until Sept. 6.

The first Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) public hearing on rezoning and a Planned Unit Development, or PUD, for the Dimucci property was held on July 18. It was primarily devoted to presentations by the petitioner, in a four-hour meeting that drew about 200 residents.

The next scheduled meeting was on July 25, and was to include public comment. However, the County requested a continuance of the Dimucci hearings until Aug. 15, to give the County time to meet with Hawthorn Woods and North Barrington, who have opposed the Dimucci plan. Numerous residents and organization representatives opposed the postponement of the Dimucci hearing, voicing concerns that they would not be allowed at the meetings between the villages and county. The ZBA granted that continuance, and then another continuance until Aug. 29, and now a third continuance into September.

The notice from Eric Waggoner, director of Lake County Planning, Building & Development Department, reads, "As these discussions continue to be productive and ongoing, Lake County staff has requested an additional continuance of the hearing to Thursday, Sept. 6. The ZBA Chairman has granted this additional request. Therefore, there will be no public hearing on Wednesday, Aug. 29, and the continued hearing will take place on Thursday, Sept. 6 at the Concorde Banquets, 20922 N. Rand Road, Kildeer, at 5 p.m."
