Chicagoland Coyotes are Lifelong Lovers

The coyote is one shining example of monogamy and fidelity in the animal world, according to the Forest Preserve of Cook County blog.

A recent paper in the Journal of Mammalogy found that not one of 236 studied coyotes left their mate unless one of the pair died. “I was surprised we didn’t find any cheating going on,” said Ohio State University’s Stan Gehrt, a co-author of the study, which grew out of the Cook County Coyote Project, according to the blog.

Another example of lifelong love is the bald eagle.

Of course there are many local species who are cheaters, players and philanderers.
