Bishop Rassas to Talk About HHS Mandate in Lake Zurich
Bishop George Rassas will visit St. Francis de Sales. Aug. 22, to discuss why the Catholic Church is opposed to the HHS mandate.
Bishop George Rassas will speak on Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m., at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church, 33 S. Buesching Rd., Lake Zurich.
Bishop George Rassas will provide information on the current debate on religious freedom between the Catholic Church and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Time will include Q & A. All are invited to attend.
The controversial HHS mandate was issued by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) under the Affordable Care Act and requires all employer health plans to provide coverage for contraceptives, sterilizations and abortion-inducing drugs, regardless of any moral or religious objections.
Bishop George Rassas grew up in Winnetka and served as pastor at St. Mary Parish in Lake Forest, according to an article in Catholic New World. He was ordained a bishop for Chicago in 2006.
