A Kitty Named Hope

This sweet little 5-year-old tabby cat hopes for love.

My name is Hope! I’m a very sweet and petite 5-year-old female tabby cat. If you’re looking for a kitty that likes to run around and be silly, then come by and visit me when I’m out with my feline friends! My story isn’t a dramatic one, but a story that happens every day in animal shelters all over the country. My family was too busy, they were moving, had allergies, a new baby, a new kitten, or something else along those lines. And so, I found myself at an animal shelter.

A lot of people think that a cute kitty like me should find a home quickly when looking for a new home, but the thing a lot of people don’t like to think about is how many animals there are that need homes — and that there are never enough homes waiting. Yes, kittens and puppies are cute, but if you had to hang out in a cage at a noisy animal shelter with all the other animals that need homes but aren’t going to get one, you’d realize just how important spaying or neutering your pet is. And when you happen to be an older pet, like me, your chances of getting adopted are even less. So, being a plain brown tabby cat, and the oldest tabby cat in the shelter, I was in danger of getting euthanized simply because I looked like so many other kitties there — and I was the oldest one. Thankfully, Young at Heart Pet Rescue, a rescue that specializes in older dogs and cats, came in and saved me, and I have been enjoying my second chance at life ever since!

I’m currently living at the cat adoption center at the . If you come to visit me, you can see that I like to pretend that I’m going to attack a toy if it moves around in front of me, but I’m just playing! I run and climb and bounce around, and my friends at the rescue like to joke that I’m the “silly young one.” At 5-years-old, I’m the youngest of the bunch at a rescue that helps senior pets! But once I get to know you, I will settle down next to you for petting and lap time. I even like to be brushed if it’s quiet and everyone else is sleeping. Most of all, I love to just make my human friends happy, and if you come meet me, I’ll put a smile on your face!

I’m healthy and spayed, up-to-date on my vaccinations, and microchipped. My adoption fee of $55 allows Young at Heart Pet Rescue to help other older dogs and cats like me get a second chance at a happily ever after. Just fill out an adoption application to arrange a visit. Let’s play and have some fun. I hope your ready to love me. Because I’m ready for you to love me! Are you?
