Young Actor's Studio Chicago to Perform Musical Rendition of Classic Holiday Story "A Christmas Carol"
LAKE ZURICH, Ill., November 17, 2010 – Lake Zurich-based theater company Young Actor's Studio Chicago is back this holiday season with another show-stopping performance in the bag—a musical rendition of the holiday classic "A Christmas Carol." In "Bah Humbug! Scrooge's Christmas Carol", actors ages 8-18 will captivate audiences of all ages with their trademark twists on the beloved Dicken's tale. Such twists include traditional male roles being portrayed by females, a sprite-like Spirit of Christmas Future character and the transformation of Tiny Tim's well-known line "God bless us, everyone" into a beautiful ballad.
"My artistic vision for "Bah Humbug!" has been to blend the traditional elements of Dicken's classic tale with a lively, festive interpretation which will appeal to audiences both young and old," said YASC founder and Artistic Director Joni Martin. "We invite you to kick off your holiday season by bringing the whole family to enjoy our show!"
In addition to rehearsing scenes, songs and dances, YASC actors have challenged their skills even further by performing their lines in British accents for the story set in England's Victorian era. From frightening, chained ghosts to uplifting, holiday celebrations, Ebeneezer Scrooge's life-changing adventure is one that is sure to inspire and delight everyone this Christmas.
"Bah Humbug! Scrooge's Christmas Carol" will take the stage at Cutting Hall in Palatine on December 2 and 3 at 7:00 p.m. on both days and will run just over an hour. Tickets for the performance are $11 with group rates also available.

About Bah Humbug! Scrooge's Christmas Carol: Come share the magic of this wonderful musical adaptation of everyone's favorite Christmas classic! Original music beautifully accompanies this uplifting retelling, enriched with ample female roles. "Bah, Humbug!" Ebenezer sings, dooming himself to visits from three Christmas spirits. With the first ghost, he sees his sister Fanny as they sing "One Last Christmas." Next, Scrooge is taken to the home of his employee, Beth Cratchit, where Tiny Tim sings "God Bless Us, Everyone." Finally, Scrooge watches as the entire town celebrates with "He's Dead and Buried!" Ebenezer's revelation that "Life Was Meant to Live" brings a heart-warming conclusion to Dickens' beloved tale.
