Brenda: “I really don’t care about training my dog. I just don’t want to spend the time.”

Linda: So, is your dog well behaved?

Brenda: “Sure. She doesn’t do her business in the house. She doesn’t bark too much. Probably her only flaw is that she pulls on the leash a bit when I tLindae her for walks.”

Linda: A bit?

Brenda: “Yeah. I mean, sometimes it’s kind of cute and funny how excited she gets about going for a walk. I guess, other times, it’s a little annoying but it’s no big deal.”

Linda: I can see that. And, as long as it doesn’t bother you, I guess you can live with it. But, what about your dog?

Brenda: “Pepper? Oh, she’s fine. She just gets a little worked up about going out. I can never walk fast enough for her.”

Linda: So she sets the pace on walks?

Brenda: “Not exactly. Like I said, she wants to go faster.”

Linda: That doesn’t sound very leisurely.

Brenda: “Well, no.”

Linda: You know, if she could relax a little she’d probably enjoy the walks more herself. And you might enjoy them more, too.

Brenda: “Yeah, I guess I can see that.  What do you suggest?”

Linda: At Aldens Kennels, they offer a program called Board & Train. You leave your dog with them for a couple weeks and your dog receives a training seminar in doggy etiquette. If you want them to focus on teaching your dog to relax on walks, that’s what they’ll do.

Brenda: “Two weeks? I’m not sure Pepper would like staying in a kennel that long – cooped up all day.

Brenda: “That’s great but, with the temperature as high as it’s been, Pepper isn’t accustomed to that kind of heat.”

Brenda: “Yeah, but she’ll still be cooped up, even if the room is nice and clean.”

Linda: I’m sorry. Aldens is only for dogs. Well, actually, they also board cats.

Brenda: “I was just kidding. However, it does sound like Pepper would enjoy staying at Aldens. I was planning to visit my mother in Arizona for a couple weeks anyhow.
