DaVinci Waldorf School Holds Grand Opening in Wauconda
On Saturday, Sept. 8, Water’s Edge Waldorf School in Wauconda invites the public to enjoy live music, great food, and lots of free activities for the whole family to celebrate the school’s new identity as Da Vinci Waldorf School.
Why is Water’s Edge changing its name after 14 years?
“While ‘Water’s Edge’ is an appropriate name for any business in Lake County, it doesn’t differentiate the school from a housing development or a golf course, and it doesn’t convey anything about Waldorf education,” said Susan Love, Enrollment Coordinator at the school. “’Da Vinci,’ on the other hand, gets right to the heart of what is unique and valuable about Waldorf education.
Leonardo daVinci was a master of art, science, and invention. He saw no separation between these elements. He learned by hands-on experimentation and observation, creating both great art and incredible inventions from this process. That same process is what allows our school to offer a rigorous science and math curriculum filled with the life of the arts and humanities.”
At the Grand Opening Celebration, visitors will be able to experience a bit of this for themselves as they draw forms from sacred geometry, learn to knit, throw a javelin, grind grain, bake bread, and more.
Guests will also enjoy free popcorn and snow cones, live music from Dog One, one of the hottest bluegrass bands in Chicago, a bubble show, and much more. Bulldogs Grill of Wauconda will be on hand selling their delicious fare. Admission and activities for the whole family are free. Saturday, Sept. 8 from 1 to 5 p.m. at Da Vinci Waldorf School, Pre-K to 8th Grade, 150 W. Bonner Road, Wauconda, IL. 60084.
